In the most frequent cases, the query consists of only one word. With
the help of the following instructions
you can easily specify your query to get better results.
To search for words which have the same beginning you may enter an * after
the prefix: e.g. Ma* to search for
Marketing, Mathematics, Marketability etc.
The following search requests uses operators and looks for the same words:
Marketing AND Manual and Marketing NEAR Manual. NEAR will
supply results where the difference between the two words is much smaller than
if you use AND. For AND the only condition is, that the words are on the same page.
You should prefer NEAR to AND when looking for compounds for
instance.
To exclude certain words from your search you can use AND NOT.
Use OR in case one of the words on a page is sufficient for you,
e.g. Red OR Blue. Use quotation marks to search
for phrases like "Fraunhofer Gesellschaft". The expression "Fish and
Chips" looks for pages which contain the whole phrase, Fish and Chips.
It will, however, also return pages which contain Fish as well as Chips.
